The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant began in 1986 and was created by Silverbird Entertainment. Winners have represented Nigeria in Miss World, Miss Universe and other international pageants.
During her reign, Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu, MGBN’s first queen won Miss Africa in 1986. MBGN has also produced four Miss World Continental Queens of Beauty, including Mary Bienoseh in 1987, Agbani Darego in 2001, Chinenye Ochuba in 2002 and Anita Uwagbale in 2004. Sabina Umeh and Toyin Raji won Miss World’s Personality prize, respectively in 1990 and 1995. Omowuni Akinnifesi, MBGN 2005 won the Miss Tourism International contest. In 2001, Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Agbani Darego won the Miss World pageant, making her the first Black African to accomplish this feat. Past winners and participants of MBGN have carved out successful careers in modeling, acting, business and politics.
